Inclusive Health and Wellbeing at Bevan Healthcare

‘My Experience At The Bevan Health and Wellbeing Event’

Attending the recent Health and Wellbeing event was an eye-opening experience for us- Maheen, Candice, Savitha, Zahid, and Syed. Together, we explored a variety of stands, each offering valuable information, services, and support.

We began our journey at the Living well Stand, where we learned about promoting a balanced lifestyle. The staff provided practical advice on diet, exercise, and stress management, emphasising how small, consistent changes can significantly improve overall health and well-being.

Next, we visited the Family Hub, a treasure trove of resources for families. From parenting advice to youth activities, the hub provided support across generations. The welcome atmosphere made it clear that this stand was all about building a strong, supportive community where families can thrive.

At the MESMAC stand, we learned about sexual health, particularly within the LGBTQ+ community. The team offered free health screenings, safe practises advice, and connections to local support groups. Their inclusive approach highlighted the importance of accessible and respectful health services for everyone.

One of the most impactful stands we encountered was Preparing Refugees for Work. This initiative is dedicated to helping refugees integrate into the workforce, offering resources such as CV writing, interview preparation, and English language support. The dedication of the staff and the positive outcomes they’ve achieved were truly inspiring, showcasing the power of community in fostering knew beginnings.

For a bit of personal care, we stopped by the Eyebrow Threading stand. The expert here provided precise and quick services, reminding us that self-care is an important part of overall well-being. The henna stand added a cultural touch to the event, with skilled artists creating beautiful, intricate designs. Henna, often used in celebrations brought an element of art and tradition to the day.

The Breastfeeding Services stand was a vital resource for new and expectant mothers. They offered hands on guidance and support, addressing common challenges and emphasising the benefits of breastfeeding for both mother and child. The warmth and the expertise of the staff made it clear that no mother should have to navigate this journey alone.

Overall, the Health and Well-being event was a comprehensive and enriching experience for all of us. It provided valuable insights into health, beauty, and community support, leaving us with a deeper understanding of the resources available under renewed sense of connection to our community. Whether you are looking to improve your health, support your family, or simply learn something new, events like these offers something for everyone.

Sadhana Patel, the Wellbeing Centre Manager at Bevan Healthcare in Bradford, shared her reflections, stating that, “What a brilliant turnout! We had over 100 people and 11 partner agencies supporting our Health and Wellbeing Event last month. The purpose of the event was to promote an awareness, education and engagement around mental health and wellbeing.

We had some great feedback –

•            It’s great that all the information is in one place. We don’t know about the family hubs it was a one stop shop for all that we needed to know.

•            It is good because we are mostly just in the hotel and a platform like this is very good for knowing about the different organisations that can help us. It was so welcoming and friendly that I could ask lots of questions.

•            What a great event, good vibes everyone just wants to help!

•            My kids had a great time with the activities, I got my eyebrows done and my husband got a haircut. We all felt better after coming here.  We have limited money so we can’t always afford these things that make us feel like us. Thank You

•            I am so happy I came here; I made new friends and got an application from to be a volunteer with Bevan and Volunteer Bradford.  I am struggling to do things, but I have skills that I can use to help others.

Our heroes were Hassan (Bevan Wellbeing Mentor) and Anu (Bevan Volunteer) who worked tirelessly for weeks to promote the event at every opportunity.

Massive thanks to everyone who took part and supported the event on the day and making it a success.”

Once again, we had an incredible time at the event, filled with memorable moments and inspiring interactions. It was truly an experience to remember.
