Bevan has adapted the Groundswell model of Peer Advocacy. Peer Advocacy is essentially about empowering people with lived experience to help others.
Bevan Buddies are a group of volunteers with lived experience of the asylum system, homelessness, addictions or sex working who are deployed to help deliver the full range of Bevan services to patients.
Bevan Buddies benefit from gaining experience through volunteering which can equip them with skills to go into education, training or employment. Bevan Patients benefit from being mentored by someone who has lived experience of the issues they face.
