Migrant Health Teams
Bevan have pioneered responsive health and wellbeing services for vulnerable migrants housed in temporary accommodation across Yorkshire since 2019. Bevan’s nurse lead teams are often the first point of contact with a medical professional for many vulnerable migrants who have experiences treacherous journeys and complex traumas. Our teams include a Nurse, an Occupational Therapist, a Health Care Assistant and a Peer Led wellbeing service. We will also facilitate access to Primary Care. Our Teams have developed a model of care which includes:
- Initial Health Screening
- Testing for tuberculosis and blood born viruses
- Mental Health Screening
- Facilitate access to primary care services
- Help educate around how to access and appropriate use of NHS services
- Collaborate with third sector partners in the area
- Register with Bevan GP or with local GP if outside of Leeds or Bradford
